The Egyptian Incursion is a quick scenario I threw together in a couple of hours for Gamma World. It was designed to serve as an introductory adventure for four 1st level characters. You can read it online here.
Thanks for putting this together. My Twin Cities group ran it this weekend – we were planning on playing a pickup game of Gamma World to give the system a test run and this was a great springboard (and saved me adventure prep; I agree the start up adventure was garbage).
Our group is usually a hard-core 3.5/PFRPG crowd, but the goofy nature of the game was a welcome holiday break. The adventure struck some surprising nerves: After avoiding the first encounter by simply driving their trucks over the bodies left in the road (“It’s an ambush. Don’t stop!”) they mobilized against the Lesser Emperor when they realized what was at stake (“I’ll die before they raise Art-Deco Pyramids over our Bayou!”).
Overall, they liked the adventure quite a bit. I think we share your opinion of the system, but as a diversion it’s fun.
