Justin Alexander Recommends: Masks of Nyarlathotep

Over on Scroll of Initiatives, I’m joined by Keith Baker, MT Black, Matt Colville, Monte Cook, Luke Gygax, Robin D Laws, Mike Shea, B David Walters, and many others for From the Experts: The Greatest RPG Adventures of All Time.

Pop over there to read my thoughts on why Masks of Nyarlathotep is my favorite published adventure, and then check out all the other recommendations, too! There’s some all-time classics, and also some truly surprising entries. There are some I’ve never even heard of before, and you can be sure that I’m going to track them down ASAP!

CHECK IT OUT!

You’ll be able to find me on Dungeon Masterpiece tomorrow for an interview about So You Want To Be a Game Master and the secret arts of the DM.

“So You Want To Be A Game Master” might be the best dungeon mastering advice book to be published ever. And rightly so. @TheAlexandrian has been a game designer and writer of some of the best TTRPG content and blogging since the early 2000s. Even I was greatly influenced by his earlier works. Join me as I talk to Justin about some of the novel ideas in his book, his thought process on game development, and what lead him to bring this book to bear.

The crossover you’ve been waiting for! I had a fantastic time visiting Hexed Press yesterday for a livestream Q&A about So You Want to Be a Game Master, the withering of dungeon design, and so much more! If you didn’t have the chance to join us, the great news is that you can still watch the whole thing!

So You Want To Be a Game Master was a double feature on Heath’s Geekverse.

First up, Heath dived into the book, giving an extensive sneak peek between the covers, on the Morning Grind.

Then, later in the evening, I joined him for a session of Table Talk, where we took questions from viewers. We ruffled some feathers with this one!

I was utterly thrilled to finally be able to hang out with Dael Kingsmill. She had the incredibly clever idea of using the table of contents from So You Want to Be a Game Master as a map for exploring what books, films, graphic novels, and games have deeply influenced me as a creator. If you want to watch us geek out about both GMing and Narnia, this is a video to watch ASAP!

Welcome to MonarchsFactory! On this channel you can find videos covering D&D, mythology, games, ridiculous fun with friends; all kinds of stuff. Today’s video is a chat with Justin Alexander, the author of the Dungeons & Dragons blog The Alexandrian AND the brand new book So You Want to Be a Game Master.
