    Some of that silence-vacuum problem is fixed by simply training yourself to always say, “What do you do?” at the reaction point. (Of course it still helps to know where the reaction point *is*.)

    The other thing that I don’t think you mentioned, is paying attention to the players and letting them go the moment they twitch and try to jump in. I know mine hate it if I start describing what the bad guys are doing while they’re trying to react first. You just know you messed up your description if they try to react by charging, before you got around to describing the flaming trench across the middle of the room.
