Many people sent me reports on March 12th that various links on the Alexandrian were being redirected to third-party sites. By the time I logged on, the problem appears to have gone away. There does not appear to have been a penetration into my WordPress installation. If you’re still seeing the problem, please comment here. I have contacted my hosting company, as it seems most likely the problem is on their side.
My apologies to everyone for the inconvenience.
I am still getting the problem on most of the Dragon Heist posts.
Redirects to a Viagra seller.
It appears that if you loaded the page during the window in which the PHP injection had compromised the site, the bad PHP is probably still living in your browser cache. Some people are reporting success with clearing their cookies/cache. One person needed to clear their cache and cookies and then reboot their computer in order to clear the problem.
I know that’s not great news and a bit of a hassle. And I sincerely apologize for the Alexandrian causing these problems. Both I and my hosting company are still trying to figure out what the actual source of the intrusion was.
This site has been an incredibly useful resource for me, and I was a bit o_O when I went to look for an article I wanted to share and got the redirect. I’m glad to hear things are (getting?) sorted out. I can confirm clearing my cache fixed it for me when it was still doing it.
This seems to be happening again, at least for me.
